Royal Danish Academy of Music
Project H.O.P.E. is a philanthropic and educational initiative bringing together music, medical science and social responsibility.
Conceived by Daniel Hope, the Menuhin Festival Gstaad and Fondation Juchum, the project creates opportunities for musicians, researchers, medical professionals and people affected by hearing impairment to meet, learn from one another and explore new ways of experiencing the power of music.The first edition of Project H.O.P.E. takes place at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen on 26 and 27 September 2026, with a two-day programme of public masterclasses, activities for children with hearing impairment and an interdisciplinary conference dedicated to hearing, music and science.
Sign-language interpretation will be provided.

Project H.O.P.E. continues on Sunday with a programme exploring hearing and music from different scientific, medical, educational and artistic perspectives.
Sound Lab for Kids

10:00–11:00 — Ages 5–12
11:30–12:30 — Ages 12 and over
Created especially for children with hearing impairment, the Project H.O.P.E. Sound Lab invites participants to discover sound and music through an interactive and multisensory experience.Together with musicians of the Gstaad Festival Orchestra and pedagogical professionals, children will explore different ways of experiencing music and sound.

Four keynote presentations bring together perspectives from music, medicine and research:
Peter Keller - Professor, Center for Music in the Brain, Aarhus University
Paul Van de Heyning - Professor Emeritus of ENT and Head & Neck Surgery, University of Antwerp and Antwerp University Hospital
Ellen Reisinger - Professor and Research Group Leader specialising in gene therapy for hearing impairment and deafness
Jesper Andersen - Associate Professor and Head of the Tonmeister Programme, Royal Danish Academy of Music
The conference is moderated by Daniel Hope and Prof. Dr. Ellen Reisinger, with special guest Dame Evelyn Glennie.
A solo percussionist and composer, Dame Evelyn Glennie is a two-time GRAMMY Award winner, BAFTA nominee and recipient of the Polar Music Prize, the Léonie Sonning Music Prize and the Companion of Honour.
